Betty White is an American actress, comedy show star, TV presenter, talented writer. White has worked in television for more than eighty years and set a record for the longest stay in show business. Her contribution to television was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Let’s see how she looked in her youth and how her appearance changed after.

Betty White in her youth

The actress was born on January 17, 1922 in a suburb of Chicago. In economically difficult times for America, the White family had to move to Los Angeles. The girl studied in Beverly Hills. Having received an education, the girl felt an irresistible craving for art.

The actress played her first role in 1939 in a television series. She got there right after graduation. In her youth, Betty White worked on TV, at the same time was a model and played on the theater stage.

During World War II, Betty decided to join the American women’s voluntary movement and helped the army. Then she returned to show business. In 1952, she began to actively participate in the development of comedy shows in Hollywood.

Plastic surgery

Betty White did not hide that she had plastic surgery and speaks positively about the eyelid lift surgery (blepharoplasty).

During her long career in film and television, Betty has proved that it is not shameful to grow old beautifully and does not prevent her from remaining popular at all. However, she once admitted to People magazine: “It is not good to deceive nature. But in 1976 I had an eyelid lift. It took me a long time to decide on this, but I still managed, which I don’t regret at all.”

Personal life

In her personal life, the actress had three marriages, but only in the last one she finally felt absolutely happy. Betty went down the aisle for the first time in her youth – she was only twenty-three years old, and then her husband was pilot Dick Barker. This event happened in the forty-fifth, but six months later the marriage collapsed.

The actress decided on a new marriage only four years later – Betty White’s chosen one was veterinarian Lane Allen. But this time the marriage turned out to be short–lived – the couple broke up after living together for a little more than a year.

After this divorce, there were no official marriages in the actress’ personal life for a long time, and only in 1963, when Betty was forty-one, she met Allen Ludden, the host of the Password show, to which White was invited as a panelist.

A year after they met, Betty White got married for the third time. The actress lived with Allen for eighteen years, until his death from cancer in 1981. Betty was very hard going through the bitterness of loss, and the actress was helped to overcome it by her favorite work and memories of what she and Allen had good in life. She called her third husband the love of her life, and after he left, she never tied the knot again.

Despite three marriages, Betty White had no children of her own, but in her third marriage she became a stepmother to Allen’s three heirs – David, Martha and Sarah, born in his previous marriage to Margaret McGloin, who died before Ludden met Betty.

Cause of death

Betty White died on December 31, 2021, at the age of 99. According to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department, the legendary actress died in her home of natural causes.
